The final downstairs space in our River Townhouse series is what we affectionately refer to as “The Garden Room.” Our client loves to start his day in here for its beautiful view of the river with all the natural light and greenery; so, we soaked these rich, organic tones into our color palette. The wall panels, which depict a breathtaking traditional Japanese landscape, are the perfect focal point and scene to celebrate the serenity of this space. While this first level floorplan is open, we designed each area to have a unique purpose and feel. This particular space provides a tranquil setting to enjoy the sunshine and appreciate the surrounding beauty both in and out of doors.
This sofa, the McGee Sofa from Wesley Hall, has it all: luxury velvet upholstery, a long silhouette to stretch out on, and deep arms to recline against. The shape is traditional and masculine; its low back does not obstruct the river view, and the tourmaline tone of the fabric celebrates both the outdoors and the panels. Book-ending this sofa are two gorgeous custom-designed and hand-crafted lamps, created by a potter in Georgia, whose evergreen glaze is a collage of jewel and natural tones. While their primary function is to supply light, their elevated design makes them works of art. The draperies continue this color sequence with a flowing geometric print and detailed patterning.
The Margot chair from Wesley Hall is one of our favorite pieces due to its convenient size and classic design but with superior comfort and quality. It provides the perfect amount of support without being rigid; we feel like we can sit in it for hours or for just a quick repast. We used these same chairs in the dining room, but their versatility allows them to function across spaces, and the tufted back detailing adds just a little something extra.
And last but certainly not least, this image features a close-up of our ottoman arrangement. At C. Taylor Interiors, so much of our signature is in the details; they are what sets great design apart and brings immense value to our work. We love this shot for how it captures the light in one of our beautiful accessories that, when intentionally selected and placed, can be the perfect finishing touch. The tray in which it sits is a classic Audubon American flamingo design. The square shape allows for the tray to sit upon the rectangular ottoman whilst saving room for adequate foot space. The black and gold exterior provides just a hint of the larger scale color palette of the rest of home.
Our work in the Garden Room transformed this space into the River Townhouse’s liveliest and most vibrant living area.
